Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we were planning on going to Boise to spend time with Rob's family.  A lot of his siblings would be there and his parents are still there at a rehab center.  As we were planning the trip we both got a bad feeling about it so we decided to stay home.  We were pretty sad that we would miss seeing family (especially the kids cousins!!) but we felt good about our decision.  So we got things ready to make our own Thanksgiving meal and invited Crys and Alan over for dinner.

That morning started off great.  The weather was awesome.  I had planned on doing a 5k that morning, but decided to do a "Santa run" the previous Saturday since we were planning on going to Boise.  Of course, the day of the Santa run was a huge rain storm right during our race, but my friend and I still ran it.  It was memorable to say the least!  So of course, the weather was perfect for a 5k the day that i was SUPPOSED to run it.  ha ha.  Sadie recently learned how to ride her bike without training wheels so that morning I decided to go for a run and she wanted to ride her bike with me.  We went about a mile and a half and when we got home within minutes she was laying down feeling sick.  So proceeded to throw up the rest of the day.  I felt so bad for her because she was the only one of the kids really looking forward to turkey dinner.  She did manage to eat some mashed potatoes, but she just didn't enjoy it very much.  Poor girl.

Besides that, it was a very calm, low key day.  At one point I told Rob I was worried I was forgetting something because I wasn't stressed at all.  Ha ha.  Crys and Alan came over and played with the kids, we ate, and they brought a delicious pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes.  At the end of the day, Crys helped us put up our Christmas tree.  The kids LOVE it!  Zac calls it "his" Christmas tree.  :)

The kids love it when I swing them like this.  Since it was Thanksgiving, I decided to be nice and do it for them.

Zac got the upside-down version.

Riley loved Uncle Alan!

Crys was Zac's buddy.  Zac was the only kid around for a while.  Sadie slept in her room, and Emery took about two bites of her dinner and then put herself down for a nap.

They went outside and played basketball with a football.  ha ha

When Emery woke up, we were all eating pie.  She wanted a piece of bread with butter and crackers.  This was her Thanksgiving meal.  Although, she didn't even take one bite of the bread and only ate one or two crackers.

Zac was so funny too.  He was so excited about pumpkin pie.  He took one bite and said he didn't like it.  ha ha  Kids are so funny.

Riley helped us put up our Christmas stuff.  :)

Sadie ventured out to help with the tree.

Right before bed we went for a short drive and saw some Christmas lights.  All in all it was a great day.  We feel a little bit better about not going to Boise since Sadie got sick and that would not have been fun to deal with while we weren't at home.  And we would NOT have wanted to get everyone else sick.  Hopefully Crys and Alan escaped without getting sick.  :)

We missed you guys, but it is no fun being sick AND away from home. Hope everyone is feeling better!
