My birthday - the big 32

Rob always does a great job making me feel really special on my birthday.  He makes these yummy cakes and lets me rest if I want to.  This year he kept telling me to go take a nap or a break until finally I said "I just want to be with you guys."  I spent so much time away from him and the kids in the hospital and I was just grateful to be with them.  Then the next day he took off of work so he could take me couch shopping.  We have been wanting to buy a new couch ever since we moved to our house (5 years ago!!) and we finally did it!  We got a lovely sectional that we love.  Rob especially loves it because he can lay down without having to curl his legs up.  Ha ha.

Here we are at the store trying to figure out which sectional we liked.  There was a salesman following us around the whole time which was kind of awkward, but he gave us space when we needed it.

Then we went out to lunch at the Olive Garden.  It was such a peaceful meal with just the two of us and no kids! We had a great day just the two of us shopping and talking.

Here is a fun gift that I got from Laurel.  The girls and I love it.  I think Zac thinks it is cool too, he just doesn't want to admit it!  :)

I just felt really grateful this year to be home for my birthday with my amazing family.  There really is no place like home!

Sadie's Birthday

For Sadie's birthday this year we did a "mystery dinner" with a few of her friends.  We gave them a menu that Crys made (thank you!!) and the girls had to place their order at the beginning not knowing what anything was.  Some girls would get just a spoon and a napkin and salad dressing for one course or get ice cream and cake before their meal.  It was a lot of fun!  I think Sadie and her friends had a good time.

We had to sing to her before dinner since the cake was part of the menu.

 These girls are so fun!

 Here was the menu.

Sadie also got student of the month a few weeks after her birthday.  I got a phone call from the school right they got dropped off and it was Sadie telling me that she had a big goose egg on her head.  I asked her if she wanted to come home and she said no because that was the day they were going to give her her award at the assembly.  When I got there I offered to check her out from school for the rest of the day but she said she wanted to stay.  What a tough girl. That must have hurt!!

Here is Sadie in her sparring gear.  She advanced up to a purple sash in Kung Fu, and now she is taking a break while Zac has a turn at the studio with Rob.  He is loving it.

Sadie is such a special girl.  She is so helpful and self motivated.  She loves to help with Finely and she is always looking out for me.  She asks every morning how Finley slept and makes sure I'm not over-doing it since my surgery.  Such a sweet awesome girl.  We love Sadie!!

Easter

This year Easter fell on April Fools day and general conference.  We just hung out around the house watching the prophets and apostles speak.  It was very relaxing.  We also got a visit from the Easter Bunny.  He is so sneaky and hid eggs all over our backyard!

Cute Finley hanging out in her walker outside.  She loves to be outside.

The kids were ready to find some eggs!

The kids found all the eggs and treasures in record time.  I think the Easter bunny might need to hide the eggs in harder spots next year...  :)
All done!  They had a great time and the rest of the day was spent eating candy while watching general conference.  I love having Easter on General conference weekend.  It's great to listen to talks about our Savior as we celebrate his resurrection.
