A busy Saturday

Today was a busy, but very fun and productive day.  It was overcast and nice and cool all day long, so we spent a lot of the day outside.  I weeded the garden and picked tons of cherry tomatoes.  (YUM)  We also picked two cucumbers, but the one we tasted was VERY bitter and gross, so we threw it away.  Don't know if I want to taste the other one.  ha ha.  Then we went back inside and the kids needed to change clothes because they got all muddy while I was weeding the garden.  They have this water table and love to mix dirt in there and feed it to the "witch".  ha ha.  I totally remember making all kinds of "soup" (mud) in buckets in my backyard growing up.  So it is fun to see them enjoying the same thing.  But it is very messy.

Then rob decided to take a look at a spot in the yard that I told him was always really soggy.  So he dug it up while I took the kids out front and weeded out there.  Yes.  We have a lot of weeds.

This is a random picture that has nothing to do with this post.  But notice how Emery is touching her eyebrow?  That is how she soothes herself.  Whenever she is crying, her hand is right there.  When she is tired she is touching her eyebrow.  IT is really cute.

In the front yard, the kids filled up an orange bucket with water and made a mud puddle which Emery promptly sat in.  This was already outfit number two.

My three little monkeys playing in the mud.

By this time it was almost lunch time, so Rob put the kids in the shower while I made some lunch.  Then we ate and it was time for nap time and quiet time. And I decided to do something crafty.  I bought some cool wrapping paper at Tai Pan Trading (love that store!) and decided to copy my sister in law Shanna and put some up in my cupboard.

Got one shelf done rather quickly, but then I heard some noises coming from Emery's room.  So I ran down to check and this is what I found:

When I walked in all she said was "help please"  ha ha.  Her leg was really stuck.  It took me a while to get it out.

Then I took her out to check on Daddy.  See how small that hole is?  It gets bigger...

Then I went back to my project only to realize that I forgot that the shelves were different heights so my paper didn't cover the entire thing.  But I left it that way because I am short and can't even see it when I am standing on the ground looking up at it.

here is the finished shelf.  It only has one door because I took the left one off after bonking my head on it too many times while putting the dishes away.  The dishwasher is right under this cupboard, and it made it hard to put the dishes away so I just took the door off and it is so much better now.

The question is...should I just take the other one off too?  Haven't decided yet...what are your thoughts?  I do love how it looks now.  So fun!

Then after quiet time we went to check on daddy...and of course, Emery went straight for the mud.  ha ha.  This was outfit number three.  Just look at that face!

See how much bigger that hole is now?  We finally found the leak and cut off the pipe so we could go to home depot.

But first Emery needed a new outfit.

Then she wanted another picture.

And here is the finished product.  Rob did a great job fixing it.  Such a handyman!  :)  Now we hope it will all dry up so we can fill in the hole before all the grass dies.

Salt Lake City

A few weekends ago our friends very kindly let us use their hotel points to stay at a hotel in Salt Lake.  The best part...there was a pool.  But the double best part was that our friends were there too!  So wer swam together and had a fun overnighter in Salt Lake.  We went to Gateway and looked at the water show/splash pad, the toy store and the book store.  The tragedy of the day was that I accidentally left our umbrella stroller on the sidewalk where we parked our car.  I got Emery out, put her in the car and forgot to go back and grab the stroller.  Oh well.  We actually bought a new one today so we can go for walks again.  :)

 In the pool.

Emery didn't really like the floaty thing.  She mostly liked the hot tub.

Rob and Doug with all the kids patiently waiting for us to get the dessert opened.

Yummy Chocolate cake and ice cream..

Photographic evidence that I was there too.

 Sadie and Jake.  Great friends.

The kids loved watching TV in the hotel.  Mostly because we don't have any channels at our house.  So we stayed up way too late watching tv.

 Splash Pad.

 Emery's cute face.

More evidence that I was in fact there.

 Playing in the water.

Our last picture of our stroller.  So sad that it is gone.  That thing took us many many miles.  Farewell good stroller!

And  a HUGE thank you to our friends for inviting us to crash their weekend getaway!  So fun!  We will have to do it again soon!

Visits from uncles

In June we had some visits from Uncle Isaac and Uncle Scott.  The kids always love when their uncles come to visit!  :)  I think this post has like 20 pictures.  But hey...I'm trying to catch up!

Uncle Isaac participating in some arts and crafts.

Eating at a yummy frozen yogurt place.  You get to add as much candy as you want!  ha ha.  That's what the kids do anyway.  It takes them forever to eat here because they have to chew all of the gummy bears that get frozen as they sit in the ice cream.  But it is a fun little place.

 Funny picture...look at Isaac's face!

This is what happens when you put bubbles in the jet tub and then turn the jets on.  There are like four inches of bubbles there!  ha ha.  The kids were in heaven.

Uncle Scott came over with his fiance for a few days.  Then she had to leave (I didn't take ANY pictures while she was here...sheesh!)  Here he is grilling up the Sunday steaks.  They were delicious too.  And when we sat down at the table, scott got Zac to eat tons of brocolli and mashed potatoes, which is pretty much unheard of.  The trick was to call the potatoes french fries.  He kept asking for more french fries.  Ha ha.

Silly picture of the kids helping me make sugar cookies.

Then we went to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point.  Emery was Scott's buddy the whole time.

Then the kids got put in jail.  ha ha.  Look at Sadie and Zac's faces!

Pony ride.  This is always a favorite.  Zac just has the cutest smile!

 And so does Sadie.

Emery even had a turn this time.  She loved it.  The only time she fussed was when she was sliding off the saddle and I didn't notice.  Ha ha.  She giggled the rest of the time.

Then we went on the horse drawn wagon ride.  This is another favorite.  Of course, I didn't enjoy the huge toot that the horse let out right before we took off.  Yuck!  But it sure made Zac laugh.

 Sadie sat with Uncle Scott.

 By the cow.

This makes me want some Chick Fil-A.

Then before we left we went and got some ice cream.  Yum.  Right before lunch too.  Lucky kids.

We went to Scheels one day too.  Scott tried out the shooting games.

 Here is another one.

Sadie enjoying some time with the skunks.

And of course a ride on the Ferris wheel.

We love when our uncles come!  Can't wait to see these two and uncle Evan in August for Scott's wedding!

"Tennis"

The kids found these racquets in our garage a few weeks ago and they have been asking to play tennis.  So the other day we went to the park with our racquetball racquets and some balls.  The kids had a blast running around hitting the ball...but they soon realized they were doing more running than ball hitting.  ha ha.  So they decided to just play on the playground instead.  Maybe when daddy can come with us it will be more fun.  :)

 CHEESE!

And Emery finally discovered that she likes to swing.  She has hated it since she was a baby...but if you just push her a tiny bit so she doesn't go too high...she loves it!  Silly girl.
