Fun with Family

My parents came up this past weekend to attend my dad's 30th mission reunion. It was so much fun having them around and it was a good break from taking care of Sadie 24/7. They helped so much. We all went to my aunt's house on Friday night to have dinner and visit. Rob and I drove up separately because there wasn't enough room for everyone in one car. On our way there I was hearing a funny noise...I was sitting in the back with Sadie because she wasn't in such a good mood. I asked Rob what it was and he said it was just the truck coming up behind us. Well when the truck passed and the noise was getting louder, I mentioned it again. Just then, The car kind of shook and then we heard a loud popping sound and had to stop. Unfortunately we were in the far left lane and there was no way we would be able to get over to the right. We were stuck there for about 10 minutes when we decided we would just call 911 and ask them to send someone to help us get off of the freeway. Just as Rob dialed the number a cop car pulled up behind us. They had to stop all the traffic on the freeway on a friday night for us to get over. We felt pretty bad about that, but it had to be done. So the cop helped us change our tire and we were off to get a new one because there was no saving the flat tire. It completely shredded. It was weird. It was a good thing that it happened when it did though because we are going on vacation to Oregon this weekend, so at least we weren't in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway, on saturday, we were invited to a picnic with my parents and we got to meet his old mission presidents. It was pretty fun. They had Swedish sandwich makings (bread, cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes) and they had some games going. Sadie was really tired by this time because we had gone to a farmer's market that morning. So she really needed a nap. Anyway, here are come pictures from the picnic.

Well, well. I seem to sense a theme with your family. It seems to be "Tires go POP!" I seem to remember 3 tire incidents while we were there. Number 1: When we rolled into town we rescued Rob from Walmart with a flat bike tire. Number 2: The stroller had a really flat tire when we wanted to use it at the Farmer's Market. And Number 3: The back car tire. But this is not all - you also had a flat tire when you wanted to get to Holly's wedding. Sheesh, I better carry a can of tire inflating stuff whenever I visit you.
