Sick Kids

I feel like my kids have both been sick for the past couple of months. It has been really hard. And I really hate seeing them sick. And just when I think they are getting better from their cough...they throw up all night long. haha. Part of being a mom I guess.

Anyway, my kids are still cute when they are sick...and finally after what seems like months of having a fussy Zachary...he is back to being a happy boy.

I got this package of stickers for 50 cents. About 2 minutes after we opened them, they were all over Sadie's face. She kept telling me to take a picture. Funny girl!

I know this one is blurry, but I love how you can see all of her toys lined up in a long line.

This morning Sadie slept in until 7:45. That pretty much never happens. So when I went in there to get a diaper for Zac, she was sleeping like this. Just as I snapped the picture, she opened her eyes and smiled. Silly goose.

Poor sick Zac. He never just relaxes like this when he is awake. He was sick today. BUt very cuddly which I like.

This is a sick Sadie asleep on the couch. Cute.

So I'm pretty sure that both kids have had their ear infections, and their bad colds/coughs and the 24 hour flu...so we are ready to go on vacation and have a very healthy and happy Christmas!

Eating Snow.

I know I know. Snow is pretty dirty when you think about it. But how many of you didn't eat snow when you were little?? Sadie just loves it. She always wants us to make a snowball for her to eat in the car whenever we go somewhere. And then she will say "that was a really yummy snowball mommy!" It is really cute.

So yesterday, I let her bring some inside to eat it. I should have put a towel under them so the carpet didn't get wet, but the kids were just being so cute I had to take some pictures. Zac went crazy and wanted in on the action, so he just started taking the snow and eating it himself. That kid acts like he is starving all the time. I promise, I do feed him. A lot.

Sadie packed the snow into her little dollhouse bed. She has the biggest little imagination. haha. I love to just sit back and watch her do things sometimes. I wonder where her ideas come from.

And as a side note, Zac is so close to crawling. He can't quite do it yet, but he can slowly move around the room. Mostly by scooting backwards. After dinner yesterday, I put him down in the middle of the living room floor. Then I went to the kitchen for a while to clear the table or something and when I got back this is where he was.

At first I thought he was going for the toy...

Ha! I should have known better! He went straight for the box of donuts that was sitting there. This kid and his food.

Too bad he couldn't get the lid opened. I love this picture though because you can really see how much he wants those donuts. He is drooling over them.

Smoke

Today as we were looking out the window (a daily activity) Sadie saw two people walking along the sidewalk across the street. I wasn't really looking...so I didn't notice that they were smoking. Then she said "That guy has smoke...that guy has smoke coming out his face." It was so funny.

Of course, I took the opportunity to tell her that she should never smoke and how yucky cigarettes are. Nice.

Sadie the Troublemaker

I love my little girl. She is full of energy and has such creative ideas and that makes me happy. That being said, let me tell you how she sometimes uses that energy and creative thinking.

Recently she has:

-used the baby orajel to "glue" some game pieces to a new board game. (This was partly my fault for leaving it on the floor in the living room.)

-colored on the wall in her room with a black marker. Luckily, it came off really easily with baby wipes.

-when Rob asked for some lotion in his hands, she squeezed out about a whole cup. But don't worry, he put it to good use by giving me and Sadie a foot massage. I love that man!

-ate liquid soap while playing in the kitchen sink. Yuck.

-found my mascara and put it on her eyes all by herself.


Yes folks. And all of those things happened on Sunday and Monday alone. haha. I don't feel like I leave her alone enough for her to do all of those things without me knowing. I guess she has learned to do things right when I leave the room or something. That girl is smart. :)

She makes me laugh.

End of the Great Green Blankies...

Maybe I should call them the gross green blankies. Sadie has had a little green flannel blanket ever since she was a baby.

She loved that blanket since she was tiny. I think the chewing of the corners started when she started getting teeth. She used it as a teether. And as she got older, she just kept chewing on it. So it got really gross. No matter how many times I washed it, it was always discolored and smelly. So about a year ago, I asked my mom to make an identical one. So she did. Then Sadie had two blankets that she chewed on. So after a few weeks of chewing and washing and chewing again, I would cut off the yucky parts and sew them up like new again. Well, it was getting pretty ridiculous lately how often I was having to cut off the corners so I stopped sewing them up. Needless to say, the blankets were getting torn and really small. So I finally put my foot down. Well, kinda. We went to walmart and got some new green blankets so she could throw the yucky ones in the garbage.

She was all for it and she actually was the one who put them in the garbage. Things have gone really well and she now loves her new blankets. And she doesn't chew on them!!! Nice. It has only been about a week, but she hasn't really asked for her old blankets back.

I actually had Rob grab the blankets out of the garbage in case she desperately needed them back in the middle of the night, but mostly because I couldn't bare to see them in the garbage. I don't know why, I guess it is because it means that Sadie is growing up, but I feel really bad taking those blankets away from her. She doesn't even care, but I had a hard time seeing those beloved blankets in the garbage. They have helped her get better after she got hurt, they have helped her sleep and they have been by her side since birth. So I have them hid in a bag in the back of my closet. I will probably eventually throw them away, but for my sake, they are sitting in my closet for now. :)

Funny Kids

My kids make me laugh. This is a good thing especially on those long hard days of being a mom when you feel like nothing is going right. Then Sadie will do something hilarious or Zac will give me a good laugh and that makes my whole day worth it. :)

Last week we made pretzels. They were really yummy.

Zac is always happy when he has food within reach. Seriously!

He also loves to play the guitar.

Sadie doesn't like to take naps, but when she does fall asleep, it is sometimes in a really funny position. Like this one. :)

She loves to play with beans. She would do it all day every day if I let her...but I don't like sweeping all day every day, so I only let her play with them sometimes.

More beans. These ones are lima beans. She is really creative.

She can now play Elmo games on the computer all by herself. She looks so old in this picture to me.

She also loves to play with her dolls. She puts them all to sleep and then lays down with them. It is cute.

These are some of the things that my kids do to make me smile. I love them!
